Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television presenter. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had completed 53 deals. One of them was a purchase of $350,000 for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran remembers her father as an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic primary school within her community and began the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
